This policy explains what information MeasureScout (measurescout.com) collects and how it is used. It is a plain-language summary, not legal advice.
What we collect
- Contact form. If you use the contact form, we receive the name, email address and message you type in. We use them only to reply to you.
- Calculators. The numbers you enter into a calculator are processed in your browser to show your result. We do not send them to our server or store them.
- Server logs. Our web host (Hostinger) automatically records technical details such as IP address, browser type, pages requested and time of visit. This is used to run and secure the site.
Contractor finder. The ZIP code you enter in the local contractor finder is handled in your browser only. It is kept in the page address after the # sign, which browsers do not send to our server, and we do not store it. The finder opens a web search for your ZIP code on another site, and that site’s own privacy policy applies once you leave MeasureScout.
Cookies and analytics
When you first visit, a cookie notice asks you to accept or decline analytics cookies. Until you accept, Google Analytics runs in a limited mode that sets no analytics cookies. Your choice is saved in your browser, and you can change it by clearing this site’s data in your browser settings. We use Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages are used, and Google Search Console to see how the site appears in Google search. Google Analytics sets cookies and receives your IP address and page activity, which Google uses to produce reports for us. You can opt out with Google’s browser add-on or by blocking cookies in your browser settings. We do not run advertising or affiliate tracking today. If we add them later, we will update this page first and say which cookies they set and how to opt out.
How we use and share information
We use information to answer messages, keep the site working and secure, and improve our calculators and guides. We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with service providers that run the site for us (such as our web host and email delivery), or when the law requires it.
How long we keep it
We keep contact messages only as long as needed to respond and for reasonable record keeping, then delete them. Server logs are kept by our host for a limited period.
Your choices
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. You can ask what information we hold about you, or ask us to correct or delete it, through the contact page. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under local privacy laws, and we will honor valid requests.
Children
This site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information.
Changes
We may update this policy. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
