Angi puts the overall span for ice maker repair at $75 to $660, depending on the repair type and appliance brand.[2] Fixr puts the average repair at $200, with a typical range of $150 to $250.[1] Angi’s repair-and-replacement guide puts the national average at $400, with most homeowners spending $350 to $500.[2] Angi’s own hiring guide quotes a lower average of $275, with most repairs at $150 to $400; the two Angi pages do not reconcile the difference.[5] HomeAdvisor, Angi’s corporate sibling, puts the average at $260, with most homeowners paying $200 to $300 including labor.[3] Corporate siblings may draw on shared data, and matching figures alone do not establish independent corroboration. HomeGuide puts repairing an ice maker inside a refrigerator at $100 to $225 including parts and labor.[4] Its figures come from research and project costs reported by its members.

The failed part drives the bill. Replacing a motor costs $200 to $400 on both Fixr and HomeAdvisor, while a fill tube or drive blade stays under $175.[1][3] The identical motor figure is a cross-publisher match between independently operated sites; the pages state no shared sourcing, so it is reported as published, without any conclusion about independence.

Before paying for any repair, check the warranty. Manufacturer or extended warranties commonly last one to three years and can cover some or all of the repair.[5] Fixr adds that a standard one-year limited refrigerator warranty may cover the ice maker assembly, and that many technicians guarantee their work for around 90 days. After a repair, allow up to 24 hours for ice production to return to normal.[1]

DIY ice maker fixes

A jammed ice maker can often be cleared by hand at no cost, and cleaning up a spill runs about $5 in supplies. Changing the water filter yourself costs $20 to $40 in parts.[1] Off-brand replacement parts can cost up to 50% less than manufacturer parts, though Fixr cautions they may void the appliance warranty.[1]

If you need a replacement filter, valve or other part, the Ice Maker category at Home Depot carries replacement ice maker kits, water valves and filters (non-affiliate link, provided for convenience).
